John the Baptists who has been spreading the word in Nazareth, telling people that the true Messiah was coming, introduces us to Jesus. When the Romans approach John to ask him what he refers to himself as, he replied by saying that he was not the Messiah, and states that Jesus, the true Messiah was coming. When Jesus finally arrives, John baptizes him so he could go all over Nazareth to spread the word of God.
