Fashion Influencer, Yanga Madlala and renowned artist, Devika Pillay, introduce an element never seen before on MADE IN AFRICA. In a Venus versus Mars challenge, Brigette Mashile (South Africa) and Sifiso Kunene (South Africa) bring the first male-female pairing into the competition. With Visual Arts Meets Fashion as their Theme of The Week, the young designers are given the rare opportunity to not only create their own designs – but, also to print their own fabric. Using the original artwork of our Guest Judge Artist, Devika. Brigette and Sifiso run off metres of their own material to construct their garment with the luxury of having every inch of their creations infused with their own design DNA. It’s up to the artist then to judge if her artwork was put to its best creative use. Devika Pillay and Yanga Madlala sit in as this week’s Guest Judges to help make that decision – along with Host, Nandi Madida, in-house Mentors, Greg Wallis and Fezile Mdletshe, as well as Resident Judge, Vanessa Leisegang.
