Martin Steenkamp (South Africa) and Deon Angelo Mathias (Namibia) compete as the first two male fashion designers in this season of MADE IN AFRICA. Martin has a tenacity to ‘push through’ and ‘a passion for business’. His weakness is over-thinking during the design process – which can work against him. He likes to celebrate the individual where gender is irrelevant. Deon wants to win MADE IN AFRICA as it means ‘a build up for the “New African on The Rise” with emerging talent’. He works on his own at home. Tasked with creating a fashion design based on the Theme of The Week: Fashion On The Big Screen, Martin and Deon absolutely delight and wow the judges with a fusion of vintage couture and edgy, new-age design styles in their choice of design in this week’s episode. Right in the middle of the series, the panel feels spoilt for choice and are forced to make a decision that they deliberated over with great difficulty. TV Superstar, Sthandiwe Kgoroge joins the panel this week with Host, Nandi Madida, in-house Mentors, Greg Wallis and Fezile Mdletshe – along with Resident Judge, Vanessa Leisegang.
